Roland Sands has been involved with motorcycles his entire life, running concurrent with FOX’s early success with motocross in the 1970s, so it was an ideal match to work with him and his crew at Roland Sands Design on signature series shocks for Harley-Davidson owners. RSD develops and manufactures an extensive line of aftermarket H-D products, and the missing link was suspension.
The new FOX-RSD IFP-QSR rear shock is longer than stock (13.5 inches) to increase travel, raise the rear end and provide a more aggressive fork angle to give your M8 Softail more responsive handing without sacrificing comfort or control. With an internal floating piston (IFP) to separate the nitrogen gas from the shock oil, the M8 shock will maintain damping control no matter how long you ride.
The main piston valving has been developed and extensively ride tested in a full range of conditions to work in harmony with the new three-position Quick Switch Rebound (QSR) settings. Three distinct settings make it easy to dial in the correct rebound for different riding situations: comfort on bumpy backroads, “any road” balance of control and comfort, and a “glued to the asphalt” feeling on smooth twisty roads. FOX’s IFP-QSR three-position rebound adjustable design—combined with vehicle-specific damping and linear spring rates—gives you a confident connection to the road while soaking up the bumps mile after mile.
